Dispatch Review Telltale for the Critical Role Generation
Dispatch Review Telltale for the Critical Role Generation Dispatch is a strange and fascinating anomaly a game that somehow feels like it was plucked straight from 2012 yet also points toward the future of narrative driven experiences. Adhoc Games has crafted something that’s equal parts interactive drama and cinematic storytelling, brought to life through stellar animation, sharp writing, and top tier performances. But make no mistake: while Dispatch is captivating, it’s barely a video game in the traditional sense. Carrying the Telltale Torch The comparisons to The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead are impossible to avoid. Like those Telltale classics, Dispatch focuses on storytelling and player choice over complex gameplay or puzzles. Back in the day, Telltale simplified the classic point and click adventure for a new audience and it worked. Their games became cultural milestones, even as critics debated whether they were “real” games. Though Telltale shut down in 2018 after a series of financial missteps, its creative DNA lives on. Games like Life is Strange, Firewatch, Until Dawn, and now Dispatch carry the studio’s legacy forward. In Adhoc’s case, this lineage is literal the team is made up of former Telltale developers, and that heritage shines through in every frame. A Superhero Story with a Human Heart In Dispatch, players step into the shoes of Robert Robertson once the superhero Mecha Man now a down on his luck everyman trying to find his place in the world after hanging up the cape. Voiced by Aaron Paul, Robertson’s sardonic tone and quiet vulnerability make him instantly sympathetic, even as he wrestles with apathy and regret. After a night of drinking with his old superhero buddy Blue Blazer, Robertson is roped into working as a dispatcher for the SDN a subscription based superhero agency that sends out heroes on call. The twist? His team consists of reformed supervillains, all with their own quirks and baggage, and all too eager to test his patience. It’s a killer premise, infused with the personality and humor of the Critical Role era of storytelling. In fact, Dispatch directly involves members of the Critical Role cast, including Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, and Matthew Mercer, alongside guest appearances from JackSepticEye, MoistCr1TiKaL, Alanah Pierce, and Jeffrey Wright. For longtime fans of modern geek culture, this ensemble feels like a dream crossover. More Show Than Game Like its Telltale predecessors, Dispatch prioritizes narrative over interaction. There’s no free roam exploration or inventory puzzles here your engagement mostly comes from dialogue choices, quick time events, and a few clever minigames. You spend far more time watching Dispatch than playing it, but when the story is this well acted and visually striking, that’s hardly a problem. One of the game’s most engaging features is its dispatching mechanic. Sitting at your computer, you send heroes on missions based on their abilities and personalities. These fast paced sequences break up the conversations and drama nicely, even if it’s unclear how much your success or failure actually matters. Still, the illusion of control fits perfectly with the game’s cinematic approach. A Stripped Down Evolution Dispatch feels like Telltale reimagined for the Critical Role generation a show disguised as a game, designed to make you feel involved rather than in control. The animation is top tier, the script is sharp, and the performances breathe life into every scene. Adhoc has taken Telltale’s formula, stripped it down to its emotional core, and built something sleek, modern, and full of heart. It’s easy to imagine some players being turned off by how passive the experience can be. But for those who value storytelling above all else, Dispatch might be one of the most compelling narrative adventures in years a glimpse of what the next evolution of the genre could look like.

Kirby Air Riders Release Date Kirby Air Riders officially launches on Thursday, November 20, 2025, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game will be priced at $69.99 USD at release. Story Mode As of now, there’s no confirmed story mode in Kirby Air Riders. True to its roots, the focus remains on fun, competitive racing rather than narrative progression much like the original Air Ride and the Super Smash Bros. series.

Riftbound: Everything We Know About Riot's New Trading Card Game If you’ve read my latest article gushing over Riftbound, you already know I’ve been counting down the days until I can get my hands on Riot’s upcoming TCG. A spiritual successor to Legends of Runeterra that blends my addiction to card games with the rich world of League of Legends and even Arcane? Riot, just take my money. Ghost of Yōtei Signals a Return to PlayStation's Blockbuster Roots Amid Industry Shifts
"Ghost of Yōtei Signals a Return to PlayStation's Blockbuster Roots Amid Industry Shifts" For once, both PlayStation fans and critics seem to agree on something: the question, “Where are all the games?” Sony's last console generation was defined by a steady stream of polished, story driven, single player experiences from God of War to The Last of Us Part II. But since 2023’s Spider-Man 2, that momentum has slowed, leaving many to wonder if Sony had lost its creative focus. Now, Ghost of Yōtei, the latest release from Sucker Punch, marks a potential return to form. It's a big budget, cinematic adventure in the style that helped PlayStation dominate the last generation and it might be the game fans have been waiting for. A Long Time Coming Ghost of Yōtei is a follow up to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, one of the final major exclusives on the PlayStation 4. Though it builds on the foundation of its predecessor, the new game is far from a simple sequel. Set in 1603 and relocating the action north to Japan’s Honshū region, Ghost of Yōtei introduces a new protagonist: Atsu, a female warrior seeking vengeance against the Yōtei Six, a brutal group of warlords who murdered her family. Despite working with an existing engine and gameplay framework, the team at Sucker Punch still faced a monumental task. Designing a new world, character, and story from scratch even with past experience involves hundreds of people across multiple disciplines. “Games do take a long time to make,” says creative director Nate Fox. “It’s no small chunk of your life.” Sucker Punch employs about 200 staff in house, but the credits for Ghost of Tsushima included around 1,800 names a reflection of how large and complex AAA development has become. From animators and writers to engineers and visual effects artists, building a single moment in a modern game can involve dozens of specialized roles. “Making a video game is like conducting an orchestra,” Fox explains. “You need all the elements coming together from the music to the way leaves blow across the screen.” Sony’s Strategy Under Scrutiny That sense of cohesion is something critics say Sony has been lacking in recent years. Under former PlayStation president Jim Ryan, the company invested heavily in developing live service multiplayer titles games designed to be played online for months or years, in the style of Fortnite, Destiny, or Call of Duty. While some attempts paid off notably the success of Helldivers II others flopped. The multiplayer shooter Concord was shut down just two weeks after launch, and multiple planned projects based on flagship franchises like God of War and The Last of Us were cancelled before release. Sony has admitted that its live service pivot hasn’t gone as smoothly as planned. While online focused titles like Gran Turismo and MLB: The Show continue to perform well, recent showcases suggest the company is once again emphasizing single player storytelling. Upcoming releases like Saros (a successor to Returnal) and Wolverine from Insomniac point to a renewed focus on the kinds of experiences that defined PlayStation's rise. Creative Choices and Backlash As with many major releases today, Ghost of Yōtei hasn’t escaped controversy. The game features a female lead a creative decision that has been criticized by some right wing influencers online. Nate Fox acknowledges that the choice was unconventional but insists it was crucial to the story they wanted to tell. “Atsu is an underdog, someone defying the expectations of her society,” he says. In the game, Atsu's reputation grows as tales spread that she may be an Onryō a vengeful spirit from Japanese folklore because people can’t believe a woman could defeat powerful warlords without supernatural help. Separately, a developer from Sucker Punch was recently fired after making an online joke referencing the death of a controversial American political activist. The studio condemned the comment, saying that celebrating or mocking someone's death is unacceptable. A Turning Point? Despite the challenges, Ghost of Yōtei represents a clear statement from Sony and Sucker Punch: the prestige, narrative driven blockbuster still has a place in the PlayStation ecosystem. With more single player titles on the horizon, and fan demand stronger than ever, Sony’s recent course correction might be just what the platform needs to regain its creative identity. For players asking “Where are all the games?”, the answer may finally be they’re coming.

Silent Hill f Is a Haunting Return to Form
Silent Hill f Is a Haunting Return to Form And Possibly the Series’ Best After more than 15 years without a mainline release and only a single remake to break the silence, many believed the Silent Hill franchise was finished trapped in its own foggy purgatory. But Silent Hill f not only proves there's still life in this legendary horror series, it might just be the most accomplished entry yet. Developed by Neobards and written by acclaimed Japanese horror author Ryukishi07, Silent Hill f transports players to 1960s rural Japan, offering a new setting and protagonist while remaining rooted in the psychological horror the series is known for. A New Kind of Nightmare You play as Hinako Shimizu, a high school girl whose life is already a nightmare long before the fog rolls in. Trapped in an abusive household with a domineering father, a passive mother, and an absent older sister, Hinako's only refuge comes in the form of her childhood friends. But when Silent Hill’s signature mist descends on her small village, everyone except Hinako and her friends vanishes. In their place are grotesque, twisted monsters that stalk the streets and fields with malicious intent. The tension is palpable. Monsters aren’t just lurking in obvious spots they’re strategically placed to unsettle you. Sometimes they’ll appear around corners, and sometimes they’ll creep up behind you after moments of eerie calm. The result is a constant sense of unease, the kind of fear that crawls under your skin and stays there. A Town That’s Out to Get You The game world itself is a masterclass in horror design. A maze of narrow residential streets and open farmland, the town is cloaked in a thick fog that reduces visibility to just a few feet in front of you. While there’s a map available, it’s of limited use navigation often comes down to gut instinct, and that instinct can easily lead you straight into danger. When danger does arrive, players are given two choices: fight or flee. Combat is functional and tense, with weapons that degrade over time and a sense of vulnerability that mirrors classic survival horror design. Choosing to fight may clear a path, but weapon scarcity makes fleeing a smarter long term strategy. Monsters don’t disappear when you run they’ll still be waiting if you pass through the same area again. A Story Worth the Wait Where Silent Hill f truly excels is in its storytelling. Ryukishi07 weaves a disturbing, emotionally rich narrative that explores themes of femininity, identity, isolation, and the struggle for autonomy in a world outside of one's control. It’s a dark, deeply psychological tale that pulls no punches, with moments of body horror, emotional trauma, and unrelenting tension. Yet, despite her circumstances, Hinako is no passive victim. Her resilience and determination form the emotional core of the game, making her one of the most compelling protagonists the series has ever featured. Puzzles That Challenge the Mind Silent Hill has always been known for its puzzles, and f doesn’t disappoint. From environmental brain teasers to more focused challenges, the game offers a variety of puzzles that are clever, intuitive, and satisfying to solve. While none are overly cryptic, they’ll demand your attention and thought adding another layer of immersion to an already gripping experience. The Comeback Fans Deserve Silent Hill f is more than a return to form it’s a bold reimagining of what Silent Hill can be. It respects the series’ roots while pushing into new thematic and narrative territory. For longtime fans, it’s the revival they’ve been waiting for. For newcomers, it’s the perfect entry point into one of gaming’s most iconic horror franchises. With Silent Hill f, Konami and Neobards have not only resurrected a beloved series they’ve set a new standard for it. If this is the new direction for Silent Hill, the future looks frighteningly bright.

Hollow Knight: Silksong
Hollow Knight: Silksong The Long Awaited Sequel Soars in 2025 Released on September 4, 2025, by Australian indie studio Team Cherry, Hollow Knight: Silksong marks the highly anticipated follow up to 2017’s critically acclaimed Hollow Knight. Originally conceived as DLC, the project quickly grew in scope and ambition, ultimately evolving into a full standalone sequel—and the wait has paid off. A New Kingdom, A New Hero In Silksong, players take on the role of Hornet, a fan favorite character from the original game and the former princess protector of the fallen kingdom of Hallownest. The game begins with Hornet’s capture and transport to Pharloom, a strange and dangerous kingdom far from home. To uncover the mystery of her abduction and face the shadowy forces infecting this foreign land, Hornet must ascend through its sprawling vertical world filled with threats and secrets. Gameplay Evolution Silksong retains the core Metroidvania gameplay of its predecessor—tight 2D platforming, intricate world design, and intense combat—but introduces a wide array of new systems and refinements centered around Hornet’s faster, more acrobatic movement and needle based fighting style. Key gameplay features include: Faster Healing: Hornet can recover health more quickly, changing the pace of combat. Quest System ("Wishes"): Divided into categories such as Gather, Wayfarer, Hunt, and Grand Hunt, these quests are tracked in an in game journal and offered by NPCs and quest boards. New Currencies: Rosaries act similarly to Hollow Knight’s Geo but can be protected from loss using a string. Shell Shards are used to craft and repair powerful tools. Tools and Crests: Hornet can craft "tools" for combat and traversal, which can be repaired with Shell Shards. “Crests” modify her attacks and tool slots, allowing for deep customization. Silk Skills: Unlocked by discovering hidden Weaver Sites, these give Hornet new combat abilities. Team Cherry confirmed that Silksong features over 200 new enemies, 40+ unique bosses, and around 100 benches, surpassing the content offered in the original game at launch. Notably, areas like Greymoor are described as among the largest zones the studio has ever created. Story Overview: A Journey Through Pharloom Set after the events of Hollow Knight, Silksong follows Hornet as she escapes her captors and begins her journey in Moss Grotto, marking the start of Act I. She soon learns that her kidnappers serve the Citadel, a religious institution at the summit of Pharloom that attracts countless pilgrims. Haunted by threads of silk corrupting the land and driving creatures mad, Hornet suspects her own connection to the mysterious Weaver species plays a role in her capture. As a half Weaver herself, Hornet uncovers more of her lineage while traveling through regions like Deep Docks, where she clashes with Lace, a deadly rival intent on stopping her ascent. After completing various trials—including ringing five sacred bells—Hornet defeats the Last Judge and gains access to the Citadel. Act II: The Citadel and the Cradle Upon entering the Citadel, Hornet is cast into the Underworks, from which she escapes to continue her climb. There, she encounters three ancient Conductor Statues, who task her with learning the Threefold Melody. Once mastered, this melody grants her access to the Cradle, the source of Pharloom’s corruption—Grand Mother Silk. After a climactic battle, Hornet defeats the Grand Mother and becomes the new Weaver Queen, binding her body with the ancient being. Act III: The Abyss and the End If certain conditions are met during the game, the story extends into Act III. In this path, Hornet once again defeats Grand Mother Silk but is pulled into the Abyss, where she confronts Lost Lace, a corrupted form of her rival. After purifying her, the Grand Mother sacrifices the last of her power to send them to safety—but it’s not enough. In a dramatic finale, the Knight—the protagonist of the first game and now referred to as the God of Gods—intervenes. He carries Hornet and Lace to the surface, saving them and bringing the game to its emotional close. Critical Reception and Launch Success Upon release, Hollow Knight: Silksong received widespread critical acclaim, praised for its beautiful hand drawn visuals, haunting soundtrack, rich world building, and expanded gameplay systems. Critics lauded the evolution of mechanics from the original while noting the game’s increased difficulty as both a strength and a potential barrier for some players. In its first three days, Silksong amassed over 5 million players across platforms: 1 million via Xbox Game Pass 3 million on Steam 1+ million across consoles Available Platforms Silksong launched simultaneously on: Nintendo Switch & Nintendo Switch 2 PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S Windows, macOS, and Linux

Dual Impact Booster Pack Spoilers
Gundam Card Game Dual Impact Booster Pack Spoilers The excitement around the Gundam Card Game continues to grow as we get our first major look at what’s coming in the Dual Impact booster set. While the preview of the starter decks generated plenty of buzz, it’s the booster pack spoilers that have truly ignited the community’s imagination. With the booster pack art now revealed, we also have our first glimpses at several powerful cards and they’re already making waves. These new reveals showcase a broader vision for how the game is meant to function, bringing with them new mechanics, expanded color representation, and powerful unit synergy. New Keyword: Suppression One of the biggest mechanical reveals is the introduction of the "Suppression" keyword. Cards with Suppression can damage two shield cards simultaneously, offering an aggressive new option for control and tempo based strategies. This mechanic alone could shake up how players approach both offense and defense. Purple Color Confirmed The long speculated purple color has now been confirmed as the final core color in the Gundam Card Game. This opens up exciting design space for future decks and archetypes, and its early showings suggest a more disruptive, possibly combo oriented role within the meta. Highlighted Spoiled Cards Zeta Gundam (White) Zeta Gundam adds a new dimension to the White faction, introducing multi attack capabilities that allow for more aggressive and flexible plays. White, traditionally focused on strong defense and consistency, now gets an offensive edge. Gundam AGE-1 Normal (Green) This unit enhances Green’s already strong resource ramp identity. The additional ramp potential gives Green decks a faster route to their high impact plays and makes Gundam AGE-1 Normal a valuable early game play. Core Booster At first glance, Core Booster might seem like a vanilla 2/2 unit, but its true value lies in its versatility. It can be Linked with any White Base Team Trait Pilot, enabling creative early game strategies and synergy with various White archetypes. Gundam Heavyarms A solid early game option for Wing Gundam builds, Gundam Heavyarms comes with a filtering effect that makes it easier to find key pieces. It’s a reliable unit that fits comfortably into midrange or setup heavy decks. Buster Gundam – A Triple Ship Standout Among all the weekend reveals, Buster Gundam stood out as a fan favorite. As part of the Triple Ship Alliance, it synergizes beautifully with SEED based decks, especially those centered around Kira and Athrun. It Links with any Coordinator Trait Pilot, providing incredible flexibility, and its 5 AP Blocker threshold is highly achievable in these decks. September 2 Spoiler Update: More Reveals The latest wave of card reveals delivered a lot to digest, but two cards, in particular, deserve special mention: Gundam Aerial Rebuild A key addition to the Command Control archetype centered around Suletta Mercury, Gundam Aerial Rebuild is a powerhouse. With High Maneuver and the ability to gain Blocker when four or more Command cards are in the trash, it gives this archetype both mobility and survivability. This card cements Command Control as a fully viable deck heading into set two. GINN Long-Range Reconnaissance Type This ZAFT unit may be small in stature, but its draw effect offers vital card advantage to a faction that sorely needs it. It's an ideal inclusion for any deck looking to smooth out its early game plays and keep up with the increasingly fast paced meta.
